It can be a tough decision to move in to a shelter, but sometimes it's the only solution.

The first couple of days after you’ve moved in are always the hardest. You’re in an unknown house with people you don’t know.

Maybe you’ve just made a difficult decision and left the man you love because he is violent, or you’ve fled your apartment because of harassment from an ex-boyfriend. No matter what has happened, you’re in a crisis when you move in. That’s why we will always have plenty of conversations with you and give you special attention the first couple of days.

Who will you meet?

While you’re living at the shelter you will meet staff as well as volunteers. Most of them you will only meet briefly, but some you will have a lot of contact with. For instance our social workers. One of them will be your contact person. You will also meet our children’s counsellor if you have children.
